In the northern part of Lithuania we find the Hill of Crosses. Originally a hill where crosses should be a protest against the Russian tsar. In the Soviet time it was forbidden to have crosses there. People always replaced crosses at the hill as a protest against the rulers. When Lithuanian people returned from Siberia during the sixties, they placed crosses at the hill as a memory of relatives and friends never coming back. As time went by, there are several hundred thousands crosses at the hill.
